Gift for me

I received a gift from my colleague, Boon. I couldn’t describe it thoroughly how it looks like. It looks cheap. It is definitely handmade. And it is so thin.

He knows I’m craving for a Flickr Pro account. He owns one too. So, he decided to purchase one for me out of good will and presented this paperthin gift to me. *happy thoughts*

In return, I logged onto my account in Maybank2U and transferred RM83 to him. Such a good friend of me. Haha.

Alright. Here’s the deal. Flickr is having this promo whereby Pro account holder gets 3 months extra for free if he/she purchases a Flickr Pro gift (activation code) for their spouse, friends, strangers, girlfriend, boyfriends, lesbo, soulmate etc.

So, whoever wanna purchase a Flickr Pro account, please contact me. I’ll buy a ‘gift’ for you but of course, you have to transfer money to me first la. :P

Putrajaya Outing

During Thaipusam, my friends and I went to Putrajaya for a short (photography) shooting. Oh boy, it is not short outing as it lasted for around 4 hours under the hot sun. But since it is a favour from my friend, I couldn’t say no to him.

Prime Minister's Office

Prime Minister’s Office

Putrajaya is an federal administrative centre in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It houses most of the government offices in there (or maybe all). More info on Putrajaya.

Istana Darul Ehsan

Istana Darul Ehsan

In there, there are Istana Darul Ehsan, Prime Minister’s administrative centre, his crib, Deputy Prime Minister’s crib, Minister of Finance office, BRP a.k.a. A.C.A. and etc. Don’t be fooled by these as their architecture buildings are one of a kind. It is different from what you normally see in the heart of Kuala Lumpur as it consists of various state-of-the-art designs which only could be found in Putrajaya itself.

Heck, if you are alert enough, you will notice that there are more than 10 different types of lamp posts designs on the street. Amazing, isn’t it? Besides, there are more traffic lights in Putrajaya compare to that in Bukit Bintang area.

Pampered Kids

These days, kids are real pampered. They get things they want so easily. Let it be PSP, Nintendo Wii, mobile phones, branded clothing etc. All they’ve got to do is show some sulky face and walla, a spanking new toy presented right in front of their ‘devilish’ face with bling-bling hanging around their neck And guess what, things get worse as I read the newspaper yesterday saying;

…A few weeks from now, children as young as 12 will be able to swipe a debit card and leave their cash at home.” - Source

WTF?? Now they get hold of debit cards so they would not put much cash in the wallet. *speechless*

I’ve got to admit that I’m slight jealous as those were the days where we’ve got to save hard for the things that we want. We would spend a few bucks a days to get us through the day. Now, I’m not sure how much this ‘new generation’ of kids carry in their pocket. RM100? RM200? Or RM500? Heck, I don’t even carry more than RM50 during my school days last time. As my friend said, ‘Last time mah.. Now different already’. That’s true. Things have changed dramatically. Right just now, I saw a kid holding a DSLR. Yes, you got it right. A young kid which doesn’t look any older than 14 years old holding a Nikon DSLR. A Kid!! DSLR!! WTF?? There’s no such thing as DSLR nor PnS (point-and-shoot) digital camera during my school days. I’ll be awfully happy to own a disposable film camera. Kid me not…

However, giving a debit card to a child below age 18 year old is total suicide. Most of them don’t know the value of money. To them, it is just a digit. A digit to be put as price tag and to be purchased with some paper they called ‘money’. That’s all. Heck, even adults have troubles settling their own outstanding credit card debts. Now, they are dragging the kids along into this ill shithole.

For those who know what money actually is, the high chances are they are the ones who earn a living by working part time job and they don’t need these fancy debit cards to begin with. I don’t know about you guys and girls, but I could foresee more troubles heading at a faster rate.

Mamak on ‘recycle’ plan

Once, my sister said that there’s a mamak nearby my house recycled their straws and to be used as new one. How did she know it? Well, according to her friend, on one (boring) day, they were bored sitting at a mamak stall. So, what they did was they took all the straws from the drinks they ordered and put it side by side. Don’t ask me why they did it as I couldn’t be bothered. Anyway, to their shocking, the straws are at different length from one another though they are of the same type/built/quality/pattern.

As you know, some fellas like to chew/bite their straws while drinking their drinks. Hence, you’ll get out-of-shape at the end/tip of the straw. So, what those fellas (mamak workers) did was they cut the end of the straws so it looks like (perfectly) new again. But of course, it is shorter than the original shorter length. So, you could imagine how filthy the straw is as it is shared among 10s of people (or maybe more).

What a way to save money or perhaps, they are trying to save the environment. Haha. But this happened long time ago. And yeah, the shop is out of business already. Thank god.

Lens got pimped

In other words, I just bought a new accessory for my Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM lens.

Box

Canon ES-71II lens hood

I’ve been searching high and low for this as it is quite limited or should I say, there is no stock in most of the shops I went to/called. After a few searches in Google, a few calls to shops and Canon Customer Service Centre and a few e-mails shooting here and there, I’ve finally managed to get hold of this bloody plastic and boy, it costs more than I expected.

With hood

Boy, it looks big. One thing for sure, I can’t attach this to the lens and put it into my bag. It takes up a lot of space. :P

Anyway, I don’t have the time to test it yet, so I can’t show the results with and without the hood..
