Rat-atouille said ‘Hi’

It all happened at Sushi Zanmai in The Gardens, Mid Valley Megamall. We (my uncle, auntie and me) had our lunch there. We sat at a table right next to the conveyor belt helping ourselves with the foods served by them. My auntie felt weird something was crawling all over her legs. She had a peek and shocked to see ‘Remy’ (from Ratatouille) waving her while running towards my legs. It is as big as my Canon EF 50mm F/1.4 USM lens. She complained and made a ruckus about it at the table we were sitting. Then, she complained to the waiter about ‘Remy’ being unfriendly. All the waiter did was showed some hand signs telling us to calm down and he will settle it as soon as possible. We (well, actually it is my auntie only) still made a lot of noise and I’m not sure whether other customers overheard our complaints or not.

Ratatouille

This looks way cuter than the one we saw

A few minutes later, the same waiter asked us to shift to another table. I was like “WTF??!!” in my mind. It does not make any difference if we shift to another table because the fucking rat is still in the premise. We decided to stay at the same table and made a quick munch on our food whilst looking at the bottom of the table to ensure that ‘Remy’ was not around.

Speaking of year of the rat, we were so ‘lucky’ to be visited by the ‘icon’ of the year. To show how ‘lucky’ we were, we even received a free complementary waffle ice cream. In other words, that waffle ice cream is to shove down our throats so we would shut the hell up and leave the premise without making any ruckus.

To make matter worse, they do not have salmon meat on that very same day!! WTF?!! KNNCB!! How could a Japanese restaurant in a ’so-so’ posh shopping mall not have salmon meat in their menu. How dare they open for business without any salmon meat? Salmon meat is the most important ingredient in Japanese cuisine. It is like serving a bowl of prawn noodles with the prawns or fried kuay teow without the noodles.

I’m not sure whether I would go back there judging by the way they handle situation like this. Maybe I should try another Japanese restaurant, Yuzu, located right outside of Isetan in The Gardens, Mid Valley Megamall.

Freakshow

Pop Shuvit - Freakshow

Pop Shuvit - Freakshow (Vol 1 : Tales of the Travelling Tunes)

I’ve been listening to this album, by Pop Shuvit, day in day out for the past 2~3 weeks. It is pretty refreshing from one of Malaysia’s top English act. I’m not sure what genre it falls under but it sounds a lil like Linkin Park minus Chester Bennington’s singing and angst emotion. Moots (the lead singer) handled the rapping (in English and Bahasa Malaysia) area pretty good while the rest of the group just blended the music together flawlessly.

This album consists of 13 songs. Not all of them are in English. There are a few Malay songs and Spanish in there. A few songs you might heard of over the radio, i.e. Freakshow (collaborated with Silk Sound) and Mara Bahaya (Original Soundtrack for Impak Maksima). But there are more songs from the album that you should listen to. They took the effort to collaborate with international artists such as Nitro Y Fanta, Dabo, DJ Cheapshot etc. to explore a wider range of music. Upon hearing Rockera (one of my favourite track), it is amazing to hear that reggaeton mixed with rock so well under their arrangement. At end of the day, they had made the right choice as collaboration with these artists makes the album richer with different approach.

Overall, it is one of the best Malaysian album I have ever purchased. It is all about the rapping, collaboration, the rythmic guitars and arrangement. They all performed so well that truly reflects on their talent in music industry. No doubt, this is gonna one of the best and well produced by a Malaysian band.

Chin Swee Temple

Last weekend, my friend and I went to Chin Swee Temple at Genting Highland for a short photo shoot outing. One of the main attraction is the huge buddha which could be found in there.

Buddha

We left from our place at about 9.35am and reached at the temple around 10.45am. The journey was not supposed to take that long but there is slight traffic along the way up there and not to forget the fatass (Hyundai Sonata 2.0L) car that I drove for this trip. We literally moved at a slower pace. Even Proton Sawi Savvy goes up faster than the fatass car does.

It was rather cold at first because we wore short pants. But that feeling only lasted for half and hour or so as the sun began to shine. We walked around and started to whip out our DSLR to begin shooting each and everything we see. We looked rather weird as we wore short pants and holding DSLR while tourists were wearing wind breakers, long pants and holding PnS. But that didn’t hinder us from our main objective of that day. My friend and I tried shooting HDR pictures. I gotta say, it looks absolute great with HDR compare to normal pictures. However, you got to know when and how to shoot in order to get a perfect image. More info on HDR.

Temple and Pagoda

One of my HDR shots is shown above. The colours look rather ‘fuller’and more vibrant. However, it is rather disappointing as almost 60% of my HDR attempts failed miserably. Only a few shots passed the test. Overall, it was rather fruitful trip as I get to try my hands on HDR. Moreover, I really need the cool air up there as it is rather hot weather in Kuala Lumpur lately. Besides, having such trip relaxes my mind and body.
