Confessions of an EHM
Currently, I’m reading this intriguing book. Authored by John Perkins, it is about a life story of a man being an EHM (a.k.a. Economic Hit Man). It tells about of crude tricks and lies being played by ‘big powers’ of the world in order to selfishly gain something from poorer countries. Besides, it briefly explains how the rich gets richers while the poor grew poorer, who started all these debts games and why ‘an accident’ is not really an accident after all.
Pan mee
“Pan Mee or Ban Mian (Chinese : 板麺) is a Hokkien-style egg noodle soup comprises hand-kneaded pieces of dough, while others use regular strips of noodles.” - Wikipedia

Of all the pan mees I’ve tried so far, this is probably the best pan mee I’ve ever eaten. This dish has been in my favourite food list since decades ago because I’ve been (and still) eating it when I was at a very young age.
It is probably different from the other pan mees because of the way they cook the minced pork. Most of the hawkers serve their pan mee with minced pork, which was cooked with thick dark soy sauce. This is not the case for this stall as they cook the minced garlic-pork together with the noodles. With the anchovies-based soup (Malay : Ikan bilis), the minced pork somehow makes the soup richer and sweeter too (not MSG-sweet nor sugar-sweet).
Furthermore, having the meat served in different way, I love the noodles which is made on daily basis (probably hourly basis). It has this silky smooth texture with bouncy feel. It is not too soft nor too hard as it is cooked to perfection, as one said.
It cost RM4.00 per bowl and with addition of RM0.50, you get to add extra noodles. By special request, you could ask for ‘Choy Sam’ too.
So, get yours at below location.
Location:
Restoran Makanan Sun Sea
Jalan Hujan Rahmat,
Overseas Union Garden,
58200 Kuala Lumpur.
Note :
1) You have to go early (before 12pm ) or later (after 1.30pm) to avoid crowd because it is quite packed during peak hours. Besides, the shop is rather dirty yet stuffy and hot. So, you have high chances of drenched in sweat (like me) during hot weather.
2) Besides Pan Mee, there are other good food too such as Pork Noodles, Chicken Rice, Yong Tau Foo and Penang Fried Kuey Teow. Not to worry about the quality as they are pretty tasty.
Why I bought Canon EOS 40D?
Like any other photograph enthuastic (Note : I’m not an enthuastic, I’m just a regular person with no knowledge nor excessive love in photography), there’s a short story behind my ownership of Canon EOS 40D.
It all started with one word; bokeh. It was during mid September when I read about it over the internet and awed by the blurring effect. So, I whipped out my Sony DSC-W1 and try to figure out how to get that photo that I wanted. But, after much meddling around, I found out that it has limited functions. It is a good point-n-shoot (PnS) camera but not good enough to get something good.
So, I decided to get something better than that. Something which has more functions. Something that is capable of producing better photos. I set my sight on Canon PowerShot S5 IS. It is a prosumer camera which has more functions than a normal PnS camera but not more than a DSLR. But, having figured out that the price difference between a Canon PowerShot S5 IS and Canon EOS 400D ain’t much, a merely RM300 or so, my attention somehow diverted to this entry-level DSLR. With addition of some advices I got from friends and salesman (the evil ones!!), I decided to splash my hard earn (or savings) moolah on this big piece of CMOS sensor brick.
At the same time, Canon EOS 40D was launched and available in Malaysia market. My thought about it was that if I decided to splash something which is going to be with me for a long time, I would have purchased something new in the market. Hence, I was torn between choosing a 1.5 year old Canon EOS 400D or a newly launched Canon EOS 40D.
As my friend always says, ‘No Brainer’, I went for the latter. It cost me RM4,599.00 since I bought it with standard Canon EF-S 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS kit lens. I did not go for the other kit lens because I knew that I am going to purchase something else like the Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS or maybe something better in near future.
The End.
p.s. : Okay okay.. I lied. The story is kinda long and boring and has wasted 10 mins of your precious time :P
Blue skies in Singapore…
Somehow, I feel that the skies in SIngapore is blue-er than the ones in Malaysia.

Charity for the good
As you may have known, there are various charities lately. Most of them proceed to aiding cause for Myanmar as well as China.
So, please donate what you can. It is thought that counts.
I’ve done my part. What about you?
Note 1 : Damn those Myanmar military junta idiots!! Citizens of Myanmar will know where the aids came from even though those dumbass junta pretended that they are the ones that offered help and distributed supplies!!
Note 2 : At least I know where my money went to this time.
Note 3 : The amount that one donates doesn’t constitute to how rich or poor he/she is. Again, it is thought that counts. Please don’t go “wah.. You rich bastard!! Donate some to me la!!” or “wah.. you kiam siap (English : Stingy) bas3rd!! I see you spend more in tissue papers than this“. I’ll take that as annoyance rather than a joke/compliment.
