Fukuya : Authentic Japanese Cuisine (Part 3)

While my parents have their own lunch set, me ordered a Seiro lunch set.

Seiro Lunch Set

Raw Fishes

Soft Shell Crab Tempura

Steamed Scallops With Rice

Somehow, I feel that Mini Kaiseki has more stuff compare to mine!! Besides, Japanese-knows how many types of fishes they served during the course as I could only identify a few; typically Salmon, Tuna and Unagi. And yes, they were really fresh. According to somewhere (again), the best way to identify the fresh-ness of the fish is by the smell of it.

Fruits

All in all, this would probably be one of the good Japanese restaurants you get; setting aside from those in hotels. Their operating hours are from 12.00pm to 2.30pm for lunch and 6.30pm till 10.30pm for dinner. They are closed for business on Sundays (bummer!!).

Wet Towel

My mum was happy whilst my dad kept comparing with others (as usual). I’m alright with it but my wallet was …………… Oh well, eat first, worry later…

Note : This will be the start of sudden surge of birthday occasions in coming months. My wallet is abandoning me. Damn!!

Fukuya : Authentic Japanese Cuisine (Part 2)

Warning : There will be tons of food pictures in this post, so please be patient!!

Pickles

Salads

Cold Toufu

Since they are famous for their Kaiseki set, it safes us the hassle on figuring what to order. I’ll let my noobie pictures do the talking.

My mum went for Mini Kaiseki set.

Shrimp Cocktail

Raw Fish

Lumberjack Fish

Brinjals

Basket of Ebi Tempura

Ebi Tempura

My dad opted for Fuku lunch set and Ma-cha Ice Cream.

Fukuya : Authentic Japanese Cuisine (Part 1)

Teapot

It was another birthday occasion over the weekend. This time, it’s my mum’s birthday which falls in the month of August. Since I suck at giving gifts, the first thought that came to my mind was food. Food is probably the easiest ‘gift’ to present and it can be enjoyed by all quarters of life. Best of all, it gives me a reason to go for good quality food without thinking of budget.

Chopsticks

I was contemplating whether to go for buffet at a hotel or somewhere else. But since my mum has this affection of Japanese food lately, it’s no-brainer that my destination was to a place that serves authentic Japanese cuisine; Fukuya. It is situated at Jalan Delima in Kuala Lumpur, somewhere behind of Indonesia Embassy. I read about this restaurant somewhere within blogsphere and so, I decided to give it a try.

Woods

What I like about this restaurant is that they offer different concept compare to the likes of Sushi King, Oh Sushi and etc. From the way they present their food, to the environment they offer, it is totally different from those typical chain restaurants you get in shopping complexes. There is absolutely no conveyor belt style.  On top of that, fresh ingredients are used for their Kaiseki menu (more info), so they claimed.

Main Entrance

From outside, it looked like somewhat bungalows you see in posh areas. With parking lots available for its customers, the main building(s) is separated as shown in the picture.

Simple Design

Within the compound, the way they design is just like a simply-yet-modern Japanese home.

Main Building

Private Rooms

There are a few ‘compartments’ (I can’t think of better word for this) for its guests to dine in. There are probably 2 private rooms (or more) on each side while the main building is located right at the centre of the vicinity. With much luck, we were given a private room, though I didn’t specifically asked for one when I called to make reservation. My parents were happy so am I since I can shamelessly snap pics of food without grabbing attention from other diners. Oh wait… I think I’ve already grabbed their attention when I was walking around with my camera snapping all the pictures in this post like some weird ‘jakun’.

Main Building

What’s disturbing is that I kept wondering (and probably still) how the heck are they gonna serve us if there is ongoing heavy rain because I don’t see any shelters from one ‘building’ to another. Oh well, it is for them to worry and for me to enjoy as long as my food arrives safely without additional ’seasoning’. Hehe.

Sunday Morning Breakfast

Catching me having breakfast at 7.15am on Sunday morning is like waiting for solar eclipse to happen. Like any other “pigs” out there, I would rather be in dreamland than munching something at that time. It’s rather impossible to drag myself up so early just to have breakfast. If I’m awake at that hour means that I have something to do or a plan to complete (a.k.a. breakfast with friends).

Restoran Weng Hing

And indeed, I had a plan last Sunday as I had to pick up my uncle from KLIA at 6am. It was rather insane to wake up by 5am on Sunday morning!! What’s more insane is that I only had 2 bloody hours of sleep. A quick “splash and dash” (a.k.a. fast bath) and off me went to KLIA.

Now, let’s fast forward to the point when my uncle was back home and it was 6.45am. The sky was still dark and I was at home, sitting, surfing the net and pondering at the same time. Should I continue my freakish nightmare/sleep or should I head to Jalan Imbi for a awesome bowl of Pork Ball Noodles? It was a really tough decision to make if you ask me. Sleep over food? Food over sleep? Rest over satisfaction or vice versa?

Pork Ball Noodles

“Screw sleep” so I said as food was the final decision. Afterall, I was a lil hungry too. So, I grabbed my camera and off me went to Jalan Imbi to fullfill my satisfaction.

Working man

Pork Meatballs

There were a handful of customers at that time as it was still early.  In the shop, I could smell the baking of the eggtarts (to be blogged soon). Lovely smell. I didn’t bother to grab a place to sit as when I arrived. There were plenty of empty sits at that time. C’mon, it was 7.20am on Sunday morning. What do you expect? I went straight to the stall and ordered my awesome-ness.

Minced Pork

Ice Tea

Unfortunately, they heard wrongly and gave me a small portion instead of big one. Sigh. To complement with it, I ordered “Teh Ping”. A couple of shots and off me begun my quest to my satisfaction. No description on how it tastes like because you really really have to try it.

Note : Having said about the insanity of waking up early on Sunday morning and all, I love driving in the morning especially at 5~6am because of the calmness on the road. The air is chilly, the streets are quiet. Streetlights are well lit and the roads are clear of traffics. It is nice to drive in such atmosphere in KL especially when you could speed at 160km/h cruise all the way to your point of destination.

Hoegaarden

Yay.. It’s Friday!!

Hoegaarden

I wish every pub and restaurant in the world serves this…

I’m kinda lazy to write lenghty post. Too many “shits” happened lately. Hence, thousand apologies to you all. But, the good thing is… you get to see more photo-posts rather than reading my crappy writings. :D
